| Set in the heart of the Lake District , Stone Cottage is ideally situated for exploring the area by foot or by car. There are so many great walks from the door both level and lofty, including the ascent of Helvellyn via the vertiginous Striding Edge. For a less strenuous day out enjoy a cruise on Ullswater, visit nearby historic houses such as Dove Cottage, Townend House and Dalemain, or simply indulge in a little shopping therapy in Ambleside, just 8 miles away. Cycle hire, pony trekking, boat hire are all available locally. |
For evening entertainment try Zeferelli’s in Ambleside, an excellent independent cinema, jazz bar and vegetarian Italian restaurant or experience a 3-D aerial tour of the lakes at the I-max cinema at Rheghed, near Penrith.
For theatre buffs, there are a broad range of events at The Brewery Arts centre in Kendal and at The Theatre by the Lake in Keswick. |
